![]() ![]() I have tried following tutorials, and they are either outdated, using a different type of Network Setting page (using a +/- to add/remove network connections). I am usually connected by wifi, so sometimes it gave a false positive because I thought it was partially working, or that it recognized the router, but that was when wifi was turned back on. The same dongle works flawlessly on a different laptop (but that laptop is not a mac, as i don't have another macbook to try this on) Things I've tried or things that are worth noting from prior attempts. It is worth noting that this connection takes priority over Wifi connections.- There is no working internet connection. The lights on the ethernet side of the dongle light up showing there's ethernet acitivity happening.- it recognizes the usb-c dongle it is called "AX88179A" and it shows a green circle and displays "Connected" immediately upon recognizing the device. I have purchased a multi-purpose usb-c dongle that has an ethernet jack input (along with USB-A, HDMI, and one other usb-c input) from office depot, and it was one of the more expensive options, i paid something like $70 for this.- i plug that into the left side of my macbook (none of the usb-c shaped inputs seem to make a difference) it's the one closer to me, closer to the headphone jack. 2021 Macbook Pro 14 inch M1- Ventura 13.0.1 (but problem was happening since before Ventura came out) Thank you to everyone who has unsuccessfully tried to help me troubleshoot this before. I've been trying to fix this for weeks, and end up giving up in frustration and then banging my head against the wall again a few days later. The ethernet in on the AX88179A dongle definitely works because it works fine when used alone on a different laptop. ![]() Skipping the USB-A ThinkpadLAN dongle doesnt work. Ethernet > old Ethernet dongle "ThinkPad USB LAN" dongle that only outputs to USB-A > plug into usb-a port on the new usb-c dongle "AX88179A" > Into macbookprom1. I plugged that ethernet-to-USB-A adapter into one of the ports on the multipurpose usb-c adapter, and then ethernet works. Okay so i had another ethernet adapter dongle from a different time, ethernet to USB-A adapter. BREAKTHROUGH, but still not fully working: ![]()
